Exterior Evaluations

Investigations of exterior walls using infrared thermography are carried out for two specific purposes.  One is for quality control of new or retrofitted wall assemblies and two for existing building condition assessments. Both types of inspections are used to obtain information related to: 1) moisture accumulation, 2) air leakage, 3) variations within thermal resistance's of similar assembly configuration and 4) structural thermal bridging. For quality control of new construction, these four items are used to verify as built conditions for purposes of ensuring that construction was carried out as per contract documents and that there are no hidden defects that could result in premature material deterioration. During this type of inspection, the thermographer does not have the luxury of visual symptoms of material deterioration or failure. Infrared imagery is used to verify the performance of existing envelope assemblies for building condition assessments.

Building owners still under the warranty can benefit tremendously from Infrared thermography in pinpointing damage that cannot be seen by the human eye.
